Your health beyond today’s symptoms.
Relief matters. So does protecting your health in the years ahead.
How you sleep, move, think, and feel matters now and as you age. Alongside perimenopause and menopause treatment, we address bone health, cardiovascular health, cognitive health, metabolic changes, and sexual health connecting symptom relief with prevention through care that follows you over time.
Midlife Weight Gain
Medical management of midlife weight changes, integrating metabolic assessment, personalized nutrition, hormone evaluation, and GLP-1 treatment when appropriate. Ongoing monitoring guides treatment adjustments, with attention to muscle preservation, strength, and long-term metabolic health.
Thyroid Support
Evidence-based evaluation and treatment of thyroid dysfunction alongside perimenopause and menopause care. We use clinical assessment, appropriate laboratory testing, and individualized medication management to address thyroid-related symptoms and monitor treatment response.
Cancer Care
We offer integrative menopause and survivorship care with cancer-sensitive hormone management, individualized symptom support, non-hormonal and approved hormonal options, and coordinated plans with your oncology teams to restore comfort, strength, metabolism, and long-term wellbeing.
Meet Desirae Bloomquist, FNP-C, MSCP.
Desirae Bloomquist, FNP-C, MSCP, is the founder and clinical expert behind Heat Wave Health. A Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and hormone specialist, she has dedicated her practice to helping women navigate the complex changes of midlife since 2018.
Desirae brings deep clinical expertise in menopause and hormone therapy to a highly personalized model of care. Her clinical focus includes individualized hormone therapy, genitourinary health, thyroid and metabolic concerns, and bone health. She considers each patient’s symptoms alongside medical history, current treatment, and personal priorities, with attention to situations that require coordination across specialties.
Desirae built Heat Wave Health around the continuity she values in clinical practice: time to understand a patient, explain a recommendation, and remain involved as treatment progresses.
Outside her practice, she enjoys nutrition, movement, travel, skiing, and the adventures of motherhood.
Is Heat Wave right for me?
Conflicting advice can make this decision feel uncertain. Research and clinical guidance have evolved, and some advice still reflects older interpretations of hormone therapy risks. Differences can also reflect your medical history or the treatment being considered.
A recommendation should come with an explanation.
Desirae draws on current evidence and menopause-specific clinical experience to assess your options. She explains how the guidance applies to your history, what benefits you might expect, and which risks matter for you. If you have previously been advised against hormones, she reviews the reason carefully.
If hormone therapy is unsuitable, or you prefer another approach, care can include non-hormonal prescription treatments, targeted vaginal symptom care, and behavioral approaches for symptoms such as hot flashes and disrupted sleep.
You can seek care without committing to hormone therapy.
Why Heat Wave? What makes us different?
-
Desirae is a board-certified family nurse practitioner who has provided menopause care since 2018. Her experience informs the clinical distinctions that matter: whether symptoms are menopause-related, how your medical history affects treatment choices, and when further evaluation is needed. She explains the reasoning behind each recommendation, including the evidence, risks, and alternatives relevant to you.
-
Desirae conducts your appointments, interprets your labs, and personally answers your secure messages. Questions about treatment reach the clinician who made the recommendation and knows the reasoning behind it. That continuity matters when symptoms change, side effects emerge, or a decision needs a closer look.
-
Sexual health, skin and hair changes, nutrition, and lifestyle are part of your midlife care—not separate upgrades. Desirae considers these concerns alongside your menopause symptoms and treatment, recognizing where they overlap and when they require a different approach. Guidance and management are included in your Comprehensive Membership; GLP-1 management is offered separately.
-
Desirae explains why a treatment fits your symptoms and medical history, what the evidence supports, and where uncertainty remains. You discuss expected benefits, risks, and alternatives—including nonhormonal options—and decide together how to proceed. Each plan identifies what improvement to look for, what to monitor, and when to reassess.
-
A renewed prescription does not, by itself, establish that treatment is working well. Follow-up with Desirae examines your response, side effects, and changes in your health. She adjusts care when needed and considers when further testing or another specialist’s evaluation would be appropriate. Your care builds on an ongoing clinical relationship.
